Do Carbon Fiber Phone Cases Block Signal or Wireless Charging?

It is one of the questions we hear most: will a carbon fiber case hurt my phone's signal or stop wireless charging? With our Impact Series, Impact Series 2.0, Hybrid Series and Aramid Series cases, the answer is no. They are designed so your phone works the way it did before.

Why people ask

Carbon fiber conducts electricity, and some low-quality carbon fiber cases do cause dropped signal or slow charging. We understand why buyers are careful. That is why we say clearly, on each product page, what every case supports.

What you get with our Impact, Impact 2.0, Hybrid and Aramid cases

  • Full signal: these cases do not interfere with your phone's signal. Calls, mobile data and Wi-Fi work as normal.
  • Wireless charging: they are designed to work with wireless charging. Put your phone on the pad with the case on.
  • MagSafe: they are MagSafe compatible, so they connect to magnetic chargers and accessories.

A note on the Skeleton Series

Our ultra-slim Skeleton Series is built for minimal bulk and a lightweight feel. It is not designed for wireless charging, so charge it with a cable. If wireless charging matters to you, choose an Impact Series, Impact Series 2.0, Hybrid Series or Aramid Series case instead.

You can read the details for each case on its product page and in our FAQ.

Tips for faster wireless charging with any case

  • Place the phone in the center of the charging pad. A small shift can slow charging.
  • Take thick cards, metal plates or rings out from between the phone and the charger.
  • Use a charger that supports your phone's wireless charging standard.
  • If the phone gets warm, take it off the pad and let it cool.
